A QUALITY PET STARTS WITH THE BREEDER

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US

Flying K Corgis has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. From working in vet medicine as well as for a corgi breeder at a young age, raising quality corgis has been a goal of mine for as long as I can remember- and it will continue to be.  I have developed a major passion for providing families and people with a quality corgi at a fair price. I do send puppies all over the USA but am located in Northern California. I strive to expose our puppies to as much as possible to ensure that they will go on to be successful citizens of your home. Providing you with a life-long partner is my main goal with every litter. All of our corgis are health tested and come from sound minded and bodied parents. We produce fluffy and standard coat pups out of AKC and CKC registered litters.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT CORGIS

Corgis are a very fun breed. It is very rare that I see someone who gets one that doesn't want another! Full of personality, loyal to their people, and adventure seeking are just a few attributes that make them so sought after as a family pet.

At Flying K Corgis, we will not breed a corgi that does not meet our temperament and structural standards. While some corgis can have a bit of bark and a naughty streak, our corgis are all well behaved citizens that all get along-no matter the sex. They don't bark unless it's necessary, and are overall love bugs. We would not have it any other way.

An even tempered, well built, and sound bodied corgi is what we always strive to produce.
We get asked a lot about corgi soundness. It's no secret that corgis are known for having some back and joint issues. We strongly encourage our puppy breeders to keep their puppies fit, as this will lessen the chance of any soundness issues down the road. This doesn't mean that in order to have a corgi- you have to be hiking, walking, running, etc every day. This mostly comes from their diet. Overfeeding a corgi is especially easy to do and we strongly suggest keeping track of their weight. We also health test all of our corgis so that there is no chance of the three most common corgi genetic defects, including DM which affects the spine. We have never had a corgi adult or puppy with back issues or joint issues this far.

Almost all of our dogs are health tested as 'triple clear'. See our dog profiles to find these details.

TYPES OF CORGIS WE PRODUCE

Over our time in the corgi business, we have noticed that there is a want for people to have a corgi with the physical and mental attributes of a Pembroke Welsh Corgi with the color options of a Cardigan Welsh Corgi. We produce both AKC Pembroke Welsh Corgis as well as American Corgis. The American Corgi is a cross of mostly Pembroke Welsh with a dash of Cardigan Welsh Corgi in their lineage. In our American Corgis, they will typically DNA test as 90-100% Pembroke Welsh. Our American Corgi litters are CKC registered and usually are from one AKC parent and one CKC parent.  The colors we can produce in these litters include blue merle, sable merle, bluie merle, bluie tri, sable, sable bluie, and black tri. In our AKC only litters, we can produce black tri, sable, bluie tri, and sable bluie.

HOW OUR CORGIS ARE RAISED

All of our adult corgis live in our home or in a guardian home and the same goes for our puppies. We do not raise our puppies in or have our adults in kennels all the time. While this would sure be easier, and surely much more tidy,  we just don't think that that sets them up for success as a family dog.
For the first two weeks or so, the pups live in our living room. After that, they move into a bigger whelping box in our spare room until they are ready to go home to their families. Starting around 6 weeks, they spend lots of time outside with their moms and dads, which helps them know their place in a group of dogs. As mentioned above, disposition is a major requirement for our breeding dogs, so all of our adults are great together as well as with the puppies. There is no separation due to temperamental problems with any of our adult dogs. The puppies' time outside with the group also gives them a great kick start into the potty training process.
While our puppies are growing up, they are pellet trained to go potty in a pan of pellets. This translates much easier to regular potty training at home with their families. Starting around 5 weeks, the puppies also get a crate put into their area where they usually all choose to relax. We have found that this makes all of the difference in their kennel training process later on.
